Chapter Fifteen is the 15th chapter of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.
Summary[]
Preparing to get to work, some disposal crew members attempt to try and see Leno and Kafka at work but are interrupted by another member who is curious about one member’s whereabouts and Toku speculates that he’s most likely hiding in the bathroom again. However, he is incorrect when this member shows up examining the defeated kaijus, unaware of Leno and Iharu’s presence. Because of this, he reveals his plan of tiring the defense force with variants that split and regenerate. Leno tries to understand what he is saying but Iharu is quick to interrupt the disguised kaiju and confronts him. The kaiju is not alarmed and instead attacks him with a gun-like finger, barely missing Iharu’s heart.
Iharu, injured, falls to the ground while Leno tries to reassure him. As this happens, the kaiju transforms back into his original form and the two recognize him from their entrance exam as he defeated Kikoru. When the kaiju tells himself to take a living troop member back with him, Leno tries to contact the officers of this but they do not work as the kaiju already disabled the connection. He then attacks Leno and manages to bruh Leno’s leg. Despite this, the kaiju is still unsatisfied. As this happens, Leno remembers what the Kikoru said about the kaiju’s gun-like finger, which surprises the kaiju because he didn’t expect anyone to know about it.
The kaiju continues to fire and Leno tells Iharu to run away to alarm the more experienced member. However, because of his stubbornness, Iharu refuses to get protected by Leno. Before he can say any more Leno pushes him out of the kaiju’s shooting range. After this, Iharu finally accepts and leaves. Leno accepts that he’s afraid but remembering that he wants to become a troop member that can risk his life for his comrades, he begins to prepare to attack.

- The Monster Sweeper cleanup team is shown watching the operation from afar, wondering how Kafka and Leno are doing.
- The later notice the disappearance of their new member.
- The mysterious cleanup worker is revealed to be the exam Humanoid Kaiju and attacks Leno and Iharu, hitting the latter.
- Leno tries to call back up, but the kaiju's presence interferes with communications.
- Leno is hit twice by the kaiju's shot, but a flashback reveals Kikoru explained him and Kafka how to dodge its attacks.
- Remembering Kafka's selfless sacrifice, Leno decides to do the same with Iharu and prepares to face the kaiju.
