Chapter Seventeen is the 17th chapter of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.
Summary[]
Iharu sees Leno on the ground, injured, and yells out his name, concerned for his friend. On his side of things, Leno recognizes that he’s gravely injured but urges himself to continue fighting. Seeing Leno can still move, the Humanoid Kaiju expresses its annoyance and prepares to shut him down for good. Iharu tries to defend his friend but his attack is blocked as the kaiju is now used to his attacks. On the ground, Leno cannot defend himself against the kaiju as it fires from his gun-like finger. Iharu attempts to stand up and admits to himself that Leno had the potential to become a Captain in the future, but that he wasn’t going to let Leno one-up him.
Iharu attempts to shoot, but no bullet comes out of his gun and the kaiju simply ignores him. After this, Iharu crouches in desperation, waiting for someone to help Leno. Hearing this, the kaiju laughs at Iharu, but Kafka appears behind it and throws a punch at its face. After the kaiju’s face is blown off, Kafka checks on Leno and apologizes for being late. Leno instead blames himself and deems himself weak because he let Kafka transform again. As Kaiju No. 9 regenerates, he recognizes Kafka as Kaiju no. 8.
