Chapter Twenty is the 20th chapter of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.
Summary[]
As Soshiro is about to attack, Kafka brainstorms of what he can do to counter his attacks. He immediately dismisses punching him but his thoughts are soon interrupted when Soshiro slices his chest and finally injures Kafka. Kafka then realizes that he would not be able to defeat Soshiro by holding back and remembers that the defense force’s suits are organic weapons made from incorporating parts of defeated kaiju. This means that the higher the released force, the more power the suit brings out. Kafka admits that he initially thought it was foolish when seeing Kikoru’s movements but when facing Soshiro’s inhumane-like abilities, he was proven wrong.
Thinking he dodged one of Soshiro’s attacks, Kafka drops a guard a little but a seemingly invisible slash attack (which cuts of his hand) immediately alarms him. Kafka then realizes that regeneration requires a lot of energy so it would be best for him to try to attack. On the other hand, Soshiro is struggling as well and deems Kafka a “mega monster” because of his great power. Soshiro internally admits that he senses a small sense of discomfort but dismisses it quickly.
Soshiro then decides to use an attack made up of a cross of invisible blades that allows him to use a third strike if it were to miss, which he does against Kafka. At this, Soshiro thinks he’s got closer to defeating the kaiju but Kafka doesn’t allow the blade to leave his body, which makes Soshiro panic. Kafka prepares to punch Soshiro, but he quickly avoids it. As the sun rises, Kafka escapes, which leaves Soshiro unsatisfied but not afraid to inform the defense force of his failure.

- Recalling his fight with the Humanoid Kaiju, Kafka decides to hold back against Soshiro before the latter slashes his chest.
- More details about the Defense Force combat suit is explained.
- Soshiro uses his Hoshina-Style Sword Slay Techniques to eliminate Kaiju No. 8, but to no avail.
- In the climax, No. 8 hits Soshiro's swords and destroys it, promptly fleeing.
- Soshiro then communicates the kaiju's escape to the rest of the Third Division.
