Chapter Thirty-Three is the 33rd chapter of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.
Summary[]
In the wake of the Raid on Tachikawa Base Arc, a group of important members of the Defense Force are seen discussing how to handle the revelation of Kafka Hibino being not only Kaiju No. 8, but also having infiltrated the Defense Force itself. Among the ideas put forth are hiding the revelation from the media, similar to how they handled Kaiju No. 9's attack, killing Kafka in private to turn his body into a weapon, and also utilizing Kafka as he is now. Before any agreement is reached, the Director General of the Defense Force, Isao Shinomiya, commands the Third Division to hand over Kaiju No. 8.
Kafka is revealed to have been restrained in a secure compound in the rubble of the Tachikawa Base for almost an entire day. His arms and legs cuffed to a large metal chair, his vitals monitored at all times, and Soshiro Hoshina watching from a secure room. Mina Ashiro appears to inform him he is to be moved to the Defense Force headquarters. Once led outside, they are greeted to an accompanying security squad. Among which are the fellow recruits from the Third Division: Leno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, and Iharu Furuhashi.
As Kafka is loaded into the truck that he will be transported in, lamenting how he betrayed Ichikawa's trust in him, Ichikawa steps out of line, and tells Kafka he has faith that he will be coming back. Mina informs Kafka in the truck that she is collecting footage and testimonies from all those who worked beside Kafka at the Third Division, to present a case that every member of the Third Division sees him as not just a human but a friend.
Before arriving at the headquarters, a teary eyed Kafka asks Mina if she'll allow him to still strive to stand beside her one day, to which she replies she'll always be waiting for him.
