Chapter Thirty-Six is the 36th chapter of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.
Summary[]
In order to block Isao Shinomiya's strike from destroying his core, Kafka Hibino fully transforms into his kaiju form. However, it is quickly realized that Kafka is not the one in control, as his movements and actions are erratic and violent. Within what appears to be the shell of Kaiju No. 8's body, Kafka appears to encounter the original kaiju that gave him his power of transformation, as it preaches to kill.
Almost instantly, the tide of battle shifts in Kaiju No. 8's favor, as he swiftly overwhelms Director General Shinomiya. The new fighting style is aggressive and self-destructive, to the point where Kafka is worried his human body won't survive if he can't get himself back under control. The fight escalates to the point where two layers of the Ariake Maritime Base are shattered from the force exerted.
While watching the fight, Keiji Itami remarks that if Director General Shinomiya had intended to kill Kafka, he could have done so on his first strike, before he fully transformed. And even now, it appeared as though he was holding back, in order to test how far Kaiju No. 8 can go. Kikoru Shinomiya comes to the realization that her father may have listened to her pleas, and could be waiting for Kafka to prove himself as human. However, his time is running out, as Kaiju No. 8's power appears to begin to surpass Director General Shinomiya's expectations.
