Ichitaka Mitsuike (
Appearance[]
Ichitaka is a plump young man with long brown hair styled into a up-standing messy ponytail and narrow eyes. While working, he wears Monster Sweeper Inc.'s coveralls.[1]
Personality[]
Ichitaka is a rather efficient and calm individual, usually trying to keep a happy mood around him.[1] He gets easily discouraged when things get dangerous or the people he admires fail his expectations. He also seems to be blunt and honest, even if it means saying hurtful things out loud.[3]
Plot[]
The Man Who Became a Kaiju Arc[]
Ichitaka and the rest of the guys at Monster Sweeper Inc. witnessed the Third Division's neutralization of Philinosoma in Yokohama. Then, he and the rest of his squad proceeded with the disposal of the Kaiju's corpse, with his team taking care of the skeletal cleaning and sending the intact bones to Izumo Tech.[1]
He then discussed the appearance of Kaiju No. 8 with his colleagues.[4]
At some point a strange guy joined Monster Sweeper Inc., with nobody knowing he was secretly a shape-shifting Kaiju.[5]
Sagamihara Neutralization Operation at Daybreak Arc[]
Months later, after Kafka and Reno became members of the Defense Force, Ichitaka and his colleagues followed up the battle against an enormous Fungal-type Kaiju and the Third Division. Then, upon watching the situation from a distance, they wondered where the newbie went.[6]
Later that day they were visited by Third Division Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina and Konomi Okonogi to discuss their newbie Takamichi Hotaka and his strange behavior.[7]
Kaiju Weapon Arc[]
In the aftermath of the First Division's fight against Kaiju No. 9 and the Ant-type Kaiju in Shinagawa, Ichitaka and the others at Monster Sweeper Inc. took care of the disposal of the various Ant-types present on the battlefield. As Ichitaka and Hiroto Mori considered fleeing the country due to Kaiju No. 9's rampage, they were reprimanded by Masahide Tokuda for their cowardly behaviour. Ichitaka then reflected on how cool Toku could be, despite being a drunkard and an addict gambler.[3]
Cataclysms Arc[]
Ichitaka and Hiroto attended Toku's daughter, Chieko Tokuda's wedding when a Kaiju attacked.[8]
Etymology[]
- The surname Mitsuike has the kanji for "three" (三, mitsu) and "pool, pond" (池, ike).
Trivia[]
- Ichitaka's hobby is cars.[2]
- Ichitaka was a big fan of Isao Shinomiya when he was younger.[3]
- According to him, Toku owes him 50'000 yen.[3]
- When he first appeared in Chapter 1, Ichitaka's surname was spelt as Mitsuike (
三 池 , Mitsuike). However, in the anime his surname is pronounced as Miike (三 池 , Miike). It is still unknown which of the two spellings is the correct one.
