Kaiju No. 1 (
Appearance[]
Kaiju No. 1 was a massive muscular daikaiju with grey skin and multiple openings on its massive body revealing numerous pink eyes with cross-shaped pupils. The kaiju's head was similar to that of Kaiju No. 10 and No. 12, flat with sharp teeth tied by skin patches, four large dark eye socket and two bull-like horns on the side of the head.[3]
As a Numbers Weapon, it takes the form of a gray armored combat suit equipped with a black jacket.[4]
History[]
At some point Kaiju No. 1 was faced and killed by the Defense Force, eventually turning it into the the first Numbers Weapon, currently used by First Division Captain Gen Narumi.[1]
Plot[]
Cataclysms Arc[]
During the No. 9-induced cataclysms, Gen wore Numbers Weapon 1 to save Chieko Tokuda from a kaiju[4] and slash others around.[5]
The Second Wave Arc[]
When Kaiju No. 11 attacked Gen, the latter had difficulty using Numbers Weapon 1's powers due to the former's hydrokinesis ability.[6] Eventually, Gen evolved the weapon's abilities, turning its eyes green.
Powers & Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: As an Identified Kaiju, Kaiju No. 1 was an extremely powerful kaiju. According to Director General Isao Shinomiya, Kaiju No. 1 was a fearsome kaiju whose attacks were inescapable.[2]
As a Kaiju[]
- Pseudo-Foresight: Kaiju No. 1's retina allowed it to see through other living things and pinpoint their weak spots, as well as giving it an enhanced vision. More importantly, this perspective is key to discerning the synaptic impulses that belong to the observed part, simulating a kind of combative precognition by being able to know in advance what an opponent is about to do. This allowed Kaiju No. 1 to unleash infallible attacks.[1]
As a Numbers Weapon[]
- Foresight: Despite Numbers Weapon 1 having the same power as the kaiju at its core, Gen Narumi developed an advanced form of foresight that Kaiju No. 1 never possessed. In addition to electrical signs, the weapon can also sense electrons moving, temperature and terrain changes.[3]
Trivia[]
- Matsumoto stated that Numbers Weapon 1 was designed to look different from previous suits and have a Narumi-like loose feeling. Also, both this and Numbers Weapon 10 were designed the be at odds with each other, just like their users Gen Narumi and Soshiro Hoshina: therefore while Numbers Weapon 1 has more volume on the upper body, Numbers Weapon 10 has volume on the lower body.[7]
