Kaiju No. 10 (
Appearance[]
In the manga, Kaiju No. 10 was a very tall and muscular humanoid kaiju, with a dark-grey armored skin with openings, dull spikes on the back, and a long spiky tail. It had an elongated cranium with a sharp horn on the front and a cross-like cavity on the face, with multiple teeth around, connected to its upper jaw. Its mouth was large with two rows of teeth, sharp on the more external row and squared in the internal row. Inside its mouth, he had one circular blue eye placed, visible from the cross-like cavity on its face.[7] In the anime, Kaiju No. 10's skin is colored red with magenta energy flowing through the openings, and had purple muscles and blood when injured.
It could also morph into a second gigantic form, with spikes on its shoulders (tipped with magenta in the anime) and with its cross-like cavity opened to show its internal eye.[8]
After being defeated by the Third Division, Kaiju No. 10 had been reduced to a head with its spine connected to its damaged core.[9] It was later weaponized into a Numbers Weapon, taking the form of a dark-grey scaly combat suit with a long mechanical tail and Izumo Tech's logo on the shoulder pads and tail.[1] The suit features No. 10's signature cross-shaped eye, now red, and long green energy lines on the arms and tail.[10]

Personality[]
Kaiju No. 10 is a ruthless and intimidating individual, driven to the utmost to accomplish its missions. He also seems to be quite confident, being a proud leader of a pack of kaiju and challenging the strongest member of the Defense Force he could find.[7]
It seems to like fighting strong enemies, to the point of extending fights and taunting its rivals just for the sake of it.[11] Its prideful personality brings him to never admit defeat, but rather a "draw", even when almost at death point.[12] Its fight with Soshiro Hoshina managed to exicite it so much that, even after being defeated, it still felt linked to Soshiro and wished to be turned into a weapon for him, to fight with him once more. No. 10 seems to be a rather independent individual, easily betraying its progenitor Kaiju No. 9 just to get closer to Soshiro.[5]
Plot[]
Raid on Tachikawa Base Arc[]
Kaiju No. 10 attacked the Tachikawa Base with his dozens of Preondactyl Kaiju, to collect Force members of the Defense Force.[4] It then faced Soshiro Hoshina head-on, proving to be on par, if not superior, with Kaiju No. 8's power.[7] As it kept on rushing Soshiro, No. 10 eventually destroyed Gate Number Three and got ready to finally finish off its opponent before having its arm detached by an unrestrained Soshiro.[11] With the fight going on, Kaiju No. 10 was slashed multiple times by Soshiro's blade style, until it suddenly morphed his appearance.[13] Upon growing in size, No. 10 easily resisted Soshiro's attack and, after spotting him behind himself, swatted him away with a powerful punch.[8] With Soshiro getting back up and continuing to fight, the kaiju eventually grabbed him to kill him, only to be shot in the shoulder by the Captain of the Third Division herself Mina Ashiro.[14] After this hit, the kaiju was furtherly attacked by Soshiro, Mina, and Kikoru Shinomiya, who were able to expose its core and shoot it, thus destroying it apparently.[15] After its giant body fell to the ground, a massive bomb made out of the Preondactyl Kaiju it guided appeared in the sky, with No. 10, now reduced to a decapitated talking head, taunting Soshiro by calling their fight "a draw". Moments later, much to its own disbelief, he saw Kaiju No. 8[12] jumping in the air to punch the Yoju-bomb away in the sky.[16] Kaiju No. 10's head was subsequently taken in custody by the Third Division.[9]
Kaiju Weapon Arc[]
After waking up,[9] Kaiju No. 10 requested to talk to Soshiro, the only one it was willing to exchange words with. As Soshiro met him, he told No. 10 that he wanted it to say everything he knew about Kaiju No. 9.[5] Revealing to be its creation[5] and its "prototype",[6] Kaiju No. 10 then said that it would say anything in its knowledge about No. 9 only if Soshiro agreed to weaponize No. 10 and wear it as his personal weapon, with the emotions felt during their battle still thrilling Kaiju No. 10 after its defeat. As Soshiro agreed to its demands, No. 10 then revealed everything it knew about Kaiju No. 9.[5]
Cataclysms Arc[]
At some point, No. 10 was weaponized and turned into a Numbers Weapon worn by Soshiro.[1] However, No. 10's conscience and will remained intact since it was weaponized when it was still alive. When Soshiro took action in the Chofu Airport, No. 10's conscience inside the weapon made it difficult for both of them to synchronize, due to No. 10's more direct and brutish fighting style clashing with Soshiro's tactics and schemes. In the end, Soshiro decided to let No. 10 take control of his body.[10] In the end, No. 10 and Soshiro managed to defeat all of the remaining kaiju at Chofu Airport.[2]
The Second Wave Arc[]
As the new quintet of Identified Kaiju created by No. 9 appeared, Soshiro and No. 10 were promptly confronted by Kaiju No. 12.[17] The new kaiju quickly demonstrated its superior extraordinary power to the duo,[18] with Soshiro realizing that No. 12 was nothing but No. 10's final improved version.[19] Eventually, with his swords broken, Soshiro decided to switch to his new katana, much to No. 10's amazement.[20] As Soshiro kept attacking, the animated suit watched with surprised as the Vice-Captain showed off his newfound technique, until No. 10 made Soshiro dodge one of No. 12's attacks.[21] As No. 12 switched to single-blade attacks too, No. 10 had its tail severed to protect a stunned Soshiro. Then, laughing and boasting about his move, No. 10 spurred Soshiro to fight back and do what they love most.[22] Helping Soshiro find his ultimate resolve in having fun, the main reason why he kept trying to improve, No. 10 and the Vice-Captain ultimately got ready for one last attack, unleashing 100% of their combat power.[23] Reading Soshiro's mind, No. 10 followed his plan and, as Soshiro grabbed two swords, No. 10 grabbed a third with its tail, in order to execute their final attack. With this, the two eventually performed a completely new Sword-Slay technique, culminating in twelve strikes that allowed Soshiro to expose No. 12's core and No. 10 to stab it by detaching its tail.[24]
Power & Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: Kaiju No. 10 is an extremely powerful Identified kaiju, with a fortitude level of 8.3 when it first appeared,[7] and 9.0 after using it’s full power and growing larger in size.[8] The vice-captain of the Third Division of the Defense Force, Soshiro Hoshina, acknowledged that this kaiju could be on par with No. 8[7] since it was able to resist multiple attacks from Soshiro.[13] Even after being defeated, No. 10 still mantained a fortitude level of 5.7, despite being reduced only to a mere head without a body.[5]
Powers[]
- Immense Strength: With just one of its punches, Kaiju No. 10 was able to crack concrete walls and pummel Vice-Captain Soshiro on the defensive.[7] After becoming enormous, the kaiju could destroy massive buildings with ease and send Soshiro flying away through several blocks with just one punch.[8]
- Immense Speed and Reflexes: Kaiju No. 10 seems to be fast enough to elude even the eye of a combatant of Soshiro's caliber, who is able to slash kaiju with extreme rapidity. Its reflexes seem to be incredibly fast too.[7]
- Immense Durability: Kaiju No. 10 has proved to endure multiple attacks from a combatant of Soshiro Hoshina's caliber without showing any sign of sufferance or fatigue.[13]
- Regeneration: Kaiju No. 10 seems to be able to heal itself upon getting slashed or injured.[13]
- Gigantification: By growing in size, Kaiju No. 10 gains much more power, with its Fortitude reaching its highest point. In this form, it is able to effortlessly push a high-ranking member of the Defense Force on the defensive.[8]
- Shapeshifting: Kaiju No. 10 can grow appendages and even eyes everywhere on its body.[8]
- Projectile Firing: Kaiju No. 10 can fire projectiles by flicking its fingers. Its shots are powerful enough to damage entire buildings.[7]
- Kaiju Control: Kaiju No. 10 is able to easily control other kaiju at will, using a sonar signal to guide them.[7]

- Kaiju No. 10 was created with the concept of a character who loves fighting, a kind of character that Naoya Matsumoto is fond of.[25]
- Kaiju No. 10 possesses a similar appearance to Knifehead, one of the strongest kaiju from the movie Pacific Rim.
- Kaiju No. 10 is the first kaiju in history to willingly ask to be weaponized.[1] As a matter of fact, it is also the first ever case of a sentient weapon.[10]
- After being weaponized, Kaiju No. 10's relationship with Soshiro is similar to that of Marvel's symbiote Venom and his host Eddie Brock: both Soshiro and Eddie have to share their body with a non-human highly violent creature causing problems to the hosts, despite granting them incredible power.
- In Chapter 73 while bickering with No. 10, Soshiro likened it to Pyonkichi, a character from the manga The Gutsy Frog. Similarly to No. 10, Pyonkichi is a frog who can communicate with his friend Hiroshi from his shirt, bringing the two to argue quite often.
- Matsumoto stated that he added a tail to Numbers Weapon 10 to add a part that could move outside of Hoshina's will, as expected by No. 10. It's also meant as a symbolism for a dog chasing their tail thinking it moves on its own, like Soshiro and No. 10's dynamic.[26]
- The design of the suit puts emphasis on the lower body to have a stark difference with Gen Narumi's Numbers Weapon 1. This symbolizes how Soshiro and Gen as well are always at odds and are strikingly different.[27]
