Kaiju No. 14 (
Appearance[]
No. 14 took the appearance of a jet-black floating parallelepipedon with four pink human-like faces on its angles, the faces sporting a eerie smile.[2]
Personality[]
Nothing was known about No. 14's personality, except that it was a silent yet destructive kaiju.
Plot[]
The Compatible User Arc[]
At some point, this kaiju was created by Kaiju No. 9.[2]
No. 14 then appeared in Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture, at 3:20 on the Shonan-Shinjuku line, smiling eerily at a train full of passengers before flying away.[2]
The Second Wave Arc[]
During the No. 9 induced cataclysms attacks, Kaiju No. 14 appeared in Tachikawa.[1] It was later targeted by Third Division Captain Mina Ashiro.[3] Using its teleportation ability, No. 14 was able to avoid being targeted by Ashiro while blasting the city apart with energy beams and blocking barrages from lower-ranked soldiers using its force-field.[4] As Mina Ashiro took action in Tachikawa, No. 14 promptly attacked her. However, she managed to dodge and shoot back at the kaiju, much to its shock, eventually hitting No. 14.[5]
The Last Wave Arc[]
As Kaiju No. 14 was declared dead, its parent Kaiju No. 9 used a white version of No. 14 to forcefully open a portal through its corpse. Walking through No. 14's corpse, No. 9 manifested itself through a portal in front of Mina, ready to retrieve her incredible power for itself.[6]
Powers & Abilities[]
As one of the Identified Kaiju created by Kaiju No. 9, Kaiju No. 14 was an extremely powerful Daikaiju, with a Fortitude level of 9.0.[1] No. 14's energy beams and force fields were able to damage and shrug off Defense Force equipment with no effort whatsoever.[4]
Powers[]
- Levitation: Much like its sibling, this kaiju could freely move mid-air.
- Teleportation: Likely developed as a counter to Mina Ashiro's sniping skills, No. 14 could quickly teleport between close locations.[4]
- Forced Portal Manifestation: If activated by an external force, No. 14 can manifest a portal from its body, even when dead.[6]
- Energy Attacks: This kaiju could project destructive beams of energy from each mouth on its head.[4]
- Force-Field Generation: It was able to surround itself with a force-field durable enough to withstand fire from missiles and standard Defense Force rifles.[4]
Trivia[]
- Kaiju No. 14 was given a monolithic appearance to give off a feeling of apocalypse and fear. Naoya Matsumoto also stated that the scene where No. 14 appears on the railway is based on the author's experience of watching the front view on the train as a child.[7]
