Kaiju No. 15 (
Appearance[]
No. 15 presented a skinny and female-looking humanoid body, with its most notable features being large brains attached to it: three on its head and several around its waist. It also possessed long fingers, a lack of feet and a feature-less face with a large cavity in the middle.[2]
In its human disguise, the kaiju looked extremely similar to Kikoru Shinomiya, with the only substantial difference between the two being black hair instead of Kikoru's blond and occasionally red eyes with black sclera. Also, in this form the kaiju wore a black school uniform for girls with a red tie.[3] Upon being created, No. 15 appeared identical to Kikoru in her childhood, with the same differences between the two persisiting. At the time, the Kaiju mostly wore a long black dress.[4]

Personality[]
No. 15 firstly appeared as an innocuous kaiju, calmly scouting its surrounding without attacking or even engaging humans.[2] However, when attacking, the kaiju reveals its true nature as a cruel and cunning creature, not above taunting its victims.[3]
The kaiju was very interested in Kikoru Shinomiya.[1] Even while facing her, No. 15 stayed in its Kikoru-like form and taunted her during the entire fight, calling her "Little Kikoru." Through its powers, No. 15 gave a demonstration of its sadistic nature by digging into Kikoru's subconscious and forcing her to relive her childhood trauma.[5]
Kaiju No. 15 also resembled Kikoru in personality, being quite eccentric and arrogant. Possibly inheriting Kikoru's trauma, No. 15 had a desperate need to gain the approval of its father-figure Kaiju No. 9, in the same way Kikoru strove for her father's praise. No. 9's cold and distant personality, however, motivated Kaiju No. 15 to become more powerful through training, only enough to gain its affection, with killing Kikoru proving to be the ultimate challenge to achieve that. Kaiju No. 15's despair upon realizing it was just No. 9's pawn and that its love will never be reciprocated, caused a deep pain in its heart, desperately begging for its progenitor's affection even as it died.[4]
Plot[]
The Compatible User Arc[]
At some point, this kaiju was created by Kaiju No. 9, after the latter had killed Isao Shinomiya.[4] Ever since being created, No. 15 seeked No. 9's love and affection like a human daughter would from her father. However, its emotions were used by No. 9 to manipulate No. 15 into getting stronger for the former's goal, being oblivious to affection and seeing its spawn as nothing but a pawn.[4]
Kaiju No. 15 then appeared in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, at the scramble intersection of the Hachiko exit gate. There, it proceeded to observe its surroundings for three minutes and then leave.[2]
Cataclysms Arc[]
Three month later, the kaiju disguised itself as a human before attacking some bystanders in Kabukicho, Shinjuku.[3]
The Second Wave Arc[]
During the No. 9 induced cataclysms attacks, Kaiju No. 15 appeared in the National Diet area to face off against First Division Officer Kikoru Shinomiya.[1] Right after being recognized as a Numbered Kaiju and being given its Kaiju No. 15 codename, the latter quickly unleashed an attacks that eliminated the officers who were aiding Kikoru, much to her shock. As it morphed back to its human form, No. 15 mocked Kikoru, who then got ready to neutralize it.[6] Mocking Kikoru who announced No. 15's neutralization, the kaiju quickly attack her with multiple powerful blows, overwhelming her in strength and speed, eventually breaching through her Numbers Weapon's shield. Stating that Kikoru's axe isn't enough to kill it, Kaiju No. 15 then morphed its left arm into a giant axe to eliminate Kikoru.[7] However, Kikoru evaded the attack at the last and, while following her mother's ghost through the suit, she eventually managed to hit No. 15 once in the face, although slightly.[8] Eventually, Kikoru managed to reach her maximum Combat Power and expose No. 15's core, only for the kaiju to release a psychogenic attack on her opponent. Inside Kikoru's subconscious, Kaiju No. 15 questioned her on her reason to become stronger, only to make her reveal that all she ever wanted was her parents' praise. Upon this revelation, No. 15 taunted her saying that her parents were dead and she couldn't be praised by them ever again, with Kikoru falling in despair.[5] No. 15 later sensed the appearance of Kaiju No. 8, much to its surprise. Sensing its immense power after he defeated Kaiju No. 13, No. 15 acknowledged No. 8's superior power and proposed reuniting with its fellow kaiju to take him down, before noting Kikoru getting back up[9] As Kikoru found her resolve in proving to be a worthy Defense Force officer, No. 15 found itself pummeled by the young soldier, who eventually delivered a fatal blow.[10] In its last moments of life, No. 15 showed her psyche and memories to Kikoru, revealing how much it wanted to gain Kaiju No. 9's approval only for the latter to see it as a simple pawn. Despairing, Kaiju No. 15 was then killed by Kikoru.[4]
Power & Abilities[]
As one of the Identified Kaiju created by Kaiju No. 9, Kaiju No. 15 is an extremely powerful Daikaiju, with a Fortitude level of 9.0.[1] While also being very destructive in its attacks, this kaiju is powerful enough to easily kill multiple Defense Force officers without effort and take on a skilled Numbers Weapon user.[6][7]
No. 15 seems to the worst opponent for someone like Kikoru Shinomiya, using its mental powers to work around Kikoru's unparalleled strength and using her insecurities against her, as also noted by Defense Force Director General Keiji Itami.[11]
- Flight: Kaiju No. 15 has shown the ability to move itself freely in the air.[2]
- Immense Strength: No. 15 possesses superhuman amounts of physical strength, allowing it to fight on par with a officer of Kikoru Shinomiya's caliber, even while wearing a Numbers Weapon. Its blows can easily crack buildings and solid concrete with little to no effort.[7]
- Immense Speed: No. 15 showcased remarkable levels of speed even for a Daikaiju, quickly evading and catching up to Numbers Weapon 4, the fastest one in the Defense Force arsenal.[7]
- Shapeshifting: Like its parent, Kaiju No. 15 has showcased shapeshifting ablities. It can morphs parts of their body in order to turn them in weapons, assimilating nearby objects to transform its arm in a giant axe for example.[8]
- Regeneration: No. 15 displayed high levels of regenerations, being able to instantly heal its detached arm.[5]
- Metamorphosis: Kaiju No. 15 can morph into a human form and blend in with other humans.[3] Differently from No. 9, No. 15 doesn't have to consume a human in order to take their appearance, and it can only take the form of Kikoru Shinomiya, since the kaiju was modelled off her.
- Energy Beams: No. 15 attacks by releasing an extremely powerful and violent beam of energy from its mouth. Its attacks can scatter in different directions to take out various targets,[3] or release a singular beam powerful enough to instantly wipe out an entire Defense Force platoon and destroy a building in just one blow.[6]
- Psychological Manipulation: No. 15's most unique ability its affecting the psyche of its victims. By touching a target with a beam of energy, the kaiju can connect to the victim's brain and thus manipulate it in different ways. During its psychogenic attacks, the victim stops moving and in enthralled by the kaiju's powers.
- Telepathy: No. 15 can read the mind of its targets and pinpoint specific events or emotions, even digging into their subconscious.[5]
- Memory Induction: After reading the mind of its victims, No. 15 can force them to recollect memories and traumas from their life.[5]
- Mental Control: No. 15's mind control enables the kaiju to conjure a black white space where the victims can take any form the kaiju wants and even see illusions created by No. 15 through the target's memory.[5]

Trivia[]
- It's implied that Kaiju No. 15's similarities with Kikoru stem from Kaiju No. 9's ability to gain the memories of the humans that he has absorbed. Due to killing Isao Shinomiya, Kikoru's father, No. 9 may have used Isao's memories as a basis to create a kaiju identical to Kikoru.
- Matsumoto stated that No. 15's kaiju form features brains as a way to symbolize No. 15's mental powers.[12]
- Kaiju No. 15 is the only character to be featured on a Volume back cover, which happened on Volume 10. The volume also marks the first time a kaiju, other than Kaiju No. 8, was featured on a volume cover.
