Konomi Okonogi (
Appearance[]
Konomi is a petite young woman with black hair styled into a ponytail and big dark eyes covered by large round glasses.[2]
She wears the usual Defense Force uniform, a couple of sizes larger than her.[2][1]
Personality[]
Konomi is a determined and professional person. She doesn't seem to approve of Soshiro's unprofessional remarks and blurts of laughter, caring deeply for him and for everyone else when they are in danger.[2] In return, she's held in high regard by Soshiro.[1]
While working, Konomi displays a professional and serious behavior, quickly getting a grasp of the current situation to offer support to her comrades. She also displayed remarkable levels of intuition and analytical skills.
Plot[]
The Man Who Became a Kaiju Arc[]
During the aptitude test of the examination, she checked the vitals of the examinees as they were fighting, along with Soshiro Hoshina.[2] Later, an unknown humanoid kaiju resurrected one of the test Kaiju and elevated its strength, injuring Kikoru in the process as she attempted to hold the line and allow the other examinees to escape with their lives. Through the sensors, Konomi determined that the revived Honju has a fortitude of 6.4 which was something that it never was from prior to being captured by the Defense Force. She was then left at the surveillance feeds by Ashiro and Hoshina, who made their way to the training grounds with armed gear.[3]
Soon, Konomi detected an energy surge somewhere near the 6.4 Honju; separate from thereof and evidently exceeding so. Suspecting that this is coming from a newer and even stronger organism, she reports her findings to the Third Division's Captain and Vice-Captain, who were still on their way to the battlefield. Hoshina implores her for details. However, visual confirmation was rendered impossible due to the dust cloud and debris clouding that area. Sensors, on the other hand, reveal that this new source has a fortitude of over 9.8.[4]
Sagamihara Neutralization Operation at Daybreak Arc[]
Months later she helped the Defense Force fight off a Fungal-type kaiju by informing everyone of Kafka Hibino's discovery on the Yoju's core location.[5] Later she accompanied Vice-Captain Hoshina to ask people working at Professional Kaiju Cleaning Company Monster Sweeper Inc. about their new worker Takamichi Hotaka.[6]
Raid on Tachikawa Base Arc[]
At the beginning of the raid, Konomi intercepted the multiple kaiju who arrived on the scene and dispatched Soshiro's orders to the rest of the Defense Force.[7] She then helped Soshiro in his fight against a new humanoid kaiju,[8] and later assisted both him, Captain Mina Ashiro and Kikoru Shinomiya finishing off the kaiju.[9] After the kaiju was seemingly defeated, a massive yoju-bomb fell from the sky before Okonogi could sense the presence of a kaiju whose fortitude number was 9.8. Having already seen those stats, she informed everyone that Kaiju No. 8 appeared on the scene.[10]
Cataclysms Arc[]
When the Third Division took action during the cataclysms, Konomi monitored and followed Vice-Captain Soshiro when he fought wearing Numbers Weapon 10, containing the conscience of Kaiju No. 10, much to Konomi's concern.[11]
The Second Wave Arc[]
After Soshiro's mission in Chofu Airport, Konomi monitored him during his fight with Kaiju No. 12, being utterly shocked at the fact that the kaiju was putting Soshiro on the defensive. She then theorized that the kaiju was created exactly to defeat Soshiro, with Keiji confirming her thoughts.[12] As she kept following Soshiro's fight with No. 12, Konomi then witnessed as her Vice-Captain unleashed 100% of Numbers Weapon 10's combat power.[13]

Despite not being active on the battlefield on her own, Konomi is a skilled analyst and operations leader for the Third Division. Her ability to quickly understand the situation and support the officers in battle has proven indicative for victory more than once.

- Konomi's last name Okonogi contains the kanji for "small" (小, o), "this, current, next, coming, last, past" (此, kono) and "tree, wood" (木, ki/gi).
