Masahide Tokuda (
Appearance[]
Masahide is a tall man with black afro-styled curly hair, a mild mustache, a goatee and a missing tooth. His face has an animated expression and big eyes.[1]
While working, he wears Monster Sweeper Inc.'s coveralls.[1]
Personality[]
Masahide is a loud and gentle man with, apparently, no problem in telling the truth even if it means to hurt someone.[1] He seems to get easily-irritated when his comrades start to lose confidence in difficult situations, holding great trust towards the Defense Force.[3]
Masahide also hides a deeply selfless side, quickly helping other bystanders during a kaiju attack and willing to sacrifice his life to save that of his daughter Chieko Tokuda.[4]
According to his subordinates, he can be pretty cool sometimes despite being a heavy drinker and a gambler, who doesn't go above borrowing a sum of money as big as 50'000 yen from his colleague Ichitaka Mitsuike.[3]

Ever since his daughter Chieko Tokuda was born, Masahide raised her with his kaiju-disposal business money.[4]
Plot[]
The Man Who Became a Kaiju Arc[]
Masahide and the rest of the guys at Monster Sweeper Inc. witnessed the Third Division's neutralization of a massive kaiju in Yokohama. Then, he and the rest of his squad proceeded with the disposal of the kaiju's corpse, with his squad teaming up with Iida Cleaners to strip the kaiju's arms.[1] Later after that, Leno Ichikawa joined Monster Sweeper Inc. as a part-timer with Masahide introducingd him to Kafka Hibino. He and his team then disposed of a kaiju with Leno and Kafka before they two were attacked by another kaiju after work.[1]
At some point, a strange guy joined Monster Sweeper Inc. with nobody knowing he was secretly a shape-shifting kaiju.[5]
Sagamihara Neutralization Operation at Daybreak Arc[]
Months later, after Kafka Hibino and Leno Ichikawa became members of the Defense Force, Masahide and his colleagues followed up the battle against an enormous Fungal-type kaiju and the Third Division. Then, upon watching the situation from a distance, they wondered where the newbie went.[6]
Later that day, they were visited by Third Division Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina and Konomi Okonogi to discuss their newbie Takamichi Hotaka and his strange behavior.[7]
Kaiju Weapon Arc[]
In the aftermath of the fight between the First Division and the Ant-type kaiju guided by Kaiju No. 9 in Shinagawa, Masahide and the rest of the guys at Monster Sweeper Inc. were sent to dispose of the dead Ant kaiju. As they were cutting the corpses, Masahide reprimanded his comrades for losing confidence after Defense Force Director General Isao Shinomiya's death and the evacuation outside the country due to Kaiju No. 9, believing that the Defense Force and Kafka would defeat No. 9 so Monster Sweeper Inc. could dispose of its body.[3]
Cataclysms Arc[]
Masahide was attending his daughter Chieko Tokuda's wedding when a kaiju attacked the venue. As the kaiju was about to devour Chieko, Masahide did his best to distrct the kaiju. Failing to do so, he witnessed as Captain Gen Narumi quickly took action to save Chieko and slay the kaiju.[4]
Etymology[]
- The name Masahide is written in katakana (マサヒデ), which has no special meaning.
- Masahide's surname Tokuda contains the kanji for "virtue, ethics" (徳, toku) and "field, rice paddy" (田, ta/da).
